SkillStation Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need SkillStation?

You should consider SkillStation if any of the following requirements would benefit your organisation:

  • I need a single storage mechanism to keep training and/or competency data, that is intuitive for both users & administrators
  • I need a secure system to store my organisation's data
  • I need to demonstrate that my staff have been trained, or have declared that they are competent to perform their duties and roles
  • I need instant access to every person's training history
  • I need access to useful & meaningful reports that meet internal/external requirements, i.e.
financial reports, number of training days within a specified period, skills gap analysis by person, department and site(s)
  • I need to find staff who are not competent, not trained, or have demonstrated an issue with the task assigned to them
  • I need to establish when competency levels will expire, for the purposes of refresher training / re-assessment
  • I need to be able to distribute documents or training material that are linked to skills & knowledge, and to monitor access
  • I need to batch-enter large amounts of competency data for large numbers of staff
  • I need to retain old competency levels/training information for reference in the future
  • I need staff on-site to have individual login accounts with specific access rights, to help manage data
  • Our company's training data should be accessible from any internet-enabled computer, using unique login details

What sized business is SkillStation suitable for?

The system is a valuable service and business solution suitable for organisations of all sizes, including:

  • A single-person enterprise
  • A micro-business employing less than ten people on one site
  • A global multi-national organisation employing over 100,000 people across several sites in various global locations

What hardware/software do I need?

SkillStation is web-based. SkillStation users and administrators will only need internet access and a modern internet browser to access the system.

This eliminates the requirement for an internal IT server, which would be expensive to purchase and maintain. Also as internet technologies develop, you are guaranteed that SkillStation will remain compatible with future standards.

How much does SkillStation cost?

SkillStation is priced on a per-user basis, with the cost-per-user decreasing as the number of users increases. Please use the quotation page to obtain a bespoke quotation.

To keep costs to a minimum we can work with you to develop a pilot-based introduction into your organisation.

Note that a 'SkillStation user' is either a normal 'learner' user, or an administrator. Users accounts that fall into both categories are only charged once. In addition, we do not charge for archived user accounts (i.e. when somebody leaves your organisation).

How do I implement SkillStation in my organisation?

Please see the bullet points on the Pricing & Implementation page for details of this.

Do I need training to use SkillStation?

Although SkillStation is intuitive, we do recommend training is undertaken. This is included as part of the purchase price, and generally will take 2 days per (high-level) administrator user.

Can we host SkillStation on our own internal servers?

We do not recommend hosting the system yourself for a number of reasons, and will only agree to this under exceptional circumstances.

This is to ensure that all clients receive the same high level of service and functionality.

Have any new features been introduced since I purchased SkillStation?

Existing customers automatically qualify for free upgrades whenever these are released. These are provided free of charge (when clients hold an online hosted SkillStation license).

e4 Learning Solutions are always working to improve the system, based on new research and feedback from our clients.

Clients will also be invited to our workgroup days where they can share best-practice with other users, and request new features.

How much will it cost to implement new features?

All new features are provided free of charge to clients who have an online hosted SkillStation license. This ensures that customers receive the maximum return on investment each year, and that SkillStation will never go 'out of date'.

Who can view data within SkillStation?

This is entirely up to you. A global administrator will be able to view all data for every employee account on the system. A maximum of 1 global administrator is allowed per client, and this account is used to create and configure your client account.

A number of local administrators can be created that each have customisable access levels. Customised accounts can contain access to selected users, skills, quizzes and reporting. These accounts are therefore suitable for department leaders, auditors etc.

This allows for a secure and thorough roll-out of SkillStation across your company.

Finally, general users can see their own training record and competency history, providing they have been given their unique username & password. View more information on training records.

What value will SkillStation provide me with?

SkillStation will provide a number of benefits to your organisation. From administrator users who require detailed reports and easy-to-use, functional software, through to users who require an intuitive environment to view their personal development.

This functionality therefore brings financial benefits to your business. More information about each type of benefit is detailed in the benefits and return on investment pages.
